US 641 Toll: Kentucky requested US 641 Toll to be designated on a newly opened road between US 641 south of Benton and the then-tolled Purchase Pkwy (now I-69). In December 1988, AASHTO denied this request. Although Kentucky pointed out that a toll-free alternative remained by using mainline US 641 through Benton, AASHTO thought that it would confuse motorists, especially since the designation could not be followed to get back to US 641.
County maps through at least 1990 show US 641 Toll on this roadway, but the 1999 Marshall County map shows US 641 Spur.
