US 711: Created without assigned number in July 1926 in the period between the original 1925 preliminary list and the final list in November 1926. The number first appears on the November 1926 US route list AASHO sent to Pennsylvania. US 711 ran from US 11-120 Northumberland, PA to the New York State line at Waverly, NY.
US 711 was an addition to US 120/PA 4 from Northumberland to Muncy and new primary routing from Muncy through Towanda to NY. The AASHO list mistakenly stated Muncy as the endpoint which makes no since since it didn't touch US 11. There are some 1927 documents regarding Pennsylvania's unhappiness with the routes and numbers assigned. In March 1927 AASHO and Pennsylvania reworked an AASHO map of the November 1926 designations. When the first formal list of US routes came out in 1927, US 711 was not on it. Instead, Nortumberland to Muncy was still US 120 (now PA 405 and SRs 1007/2014), and Muncy to the New York State line became US 220 (now PA 405 to Hughesville; SR 2027/US 6 through Towanda; PA 199 through Sayre). Pennsylvania had further issues once the 1927 list was published, but US 711 was not one of them. Pennsylvania did not post their US Routes early on, so US 711 was never signed. US 711 also appeared on 1927 Rand McN, Gousha, Gen Draft and Clasons maps.
