US 427: Requested by Arkansas and Louisiana in February 1994 (AASHTO) as a new US route from I-49 Alexandria LA to the Arkansas/Oklahoma state line near DeQueen. This would be a replacement for LA 177 from I-49 to US 82; follow US 82 to Armistead LA; replace LA 7/AR 132 to Magnolia AR; added to US 82 Bus through Magnolia; replace AR 19 to Prescott, then AR 24 to Lockesburg; follow US 71 to DeQueen, then US 70 to the Oklahoma State line.
In April 1994, after confirming with Oklahoma that they were not interested in US 427 entering their state, AASHTO approved the route from I-49 near Evelyn LA to "intersection of US 71 at DeQueen" but the number 427 was under further review. In June 1994, AASHTO notified Louisiana and Arkansas that the route should be numbered US 371. | |||
