Creation: Appeared in May 1930 (AASHO) running from US 77 (Locust at Hickory) Denton TX south to US 81 (now Commerce St) Fort Worth. Texas had requested this be designated US 77-W. US 377 was an addition to TX 10 and was only about 37 miles long.
Adjustments: In June 1931 (AASHO), US 377 was extended southwest with TX 10 to end at US 67-281 Stephenville TX. Texas had requested US 377 further follow US 67 to Brownwood and TX 23 to end at US 87 Brady TX.

About 1932, US 377 was rerouted in Fort Worth to leave Commerce St via Belknap St and Denton Hwy. The old route: 3rd/Harding/4th/Sylvania/Kimbo/Beach/Old Denton Rd to just short of today's I-820, then abandoned east back to US 377.

About 1933, US 377 was removed from Old Benbrook Rd/Winscott Rd/Old Benbrook Rd through Benbrook TX.
About 1934, US 377 was rerouted east out of Granbury TX to use today's US 377 Business. The old route cut south at N. Cleburne St and is now underwater until about the Panama Ct/Old Cleburne Rd intersection, then abandoned along the shore line to pick up Crawford Rd back to US 377 Bus.
About 1940, US 377 was removed from abandoned/CR 159 west of Bluff Dale TX.
Also about 1940, US 377 was rerouted in Fort Worth to leave Belknap on Commerce northbound to connect with Houston St southbound, then southwest on Weatherford St to Summit Ave south back to 7th St. The old route on Commerce SB remained US 81-287 (now US 287 Bus NB) and 7th St west out of downtown remained US 80 (unnumbered now)
Also about 1940, US 377 was removed from abandoned/Oak St through Roanoke TX/cutoff by TX 114/Howe Rd, Marshall Creek Rd, Schooling Rd to Bobcat Rd, then abandoned north about 0.6 miles to the pre-1952 alignment.
About 1941, US 377 was removed from the lengthy Old Granbury Rd between Granbury and Cresson TX.
About 1942, US 377 was straightened out between the Eratz/Hood County line to Granbury TX. The old route: starting 0.4 miles east of the county line, abandoned north 0.6 miles; existing dirt road northeast 1.1 miles back to US 377, then immediately abandoned north loop, then crossing 377 to follow adjacent to railroad as abandoned routing for 0.8 miles, then existing dirt road 0.4 miles to Cambpell Rd, then continuing northeast as abandonded for 0.1 mile, east along dirt road 0.2 miles, then abandoned along railroad about a mile to a bit past FM 2870 before angling back up to US 377 just past Commanche Creek. At FM 56 in Tolar, the old route bent southeast to parallel the railroad until past US 377, then used Friendship Rd for 2.9 miles, then abandoned 0.5 miles east (crossing 377), then northeast back to use the Picnic Area access road, then a brief dip below US 377. There is another south abandoned loop beginning at Loop 567
Also about 1942, US 377 was given its modern route from Argyle TX to Denton. The old route: Country Club Rd, FM 1830, James St, a bit of Massey St, abandoned to cross under railroad roughly where US 377 does now, abandoned along railroad, Locust St into central Denton (cutoff by I-35E). Now US 377 ended at Elm/Hickory.
About 1944, US 377 was removed from McDaniel Rd/abandoned bridge and loop past FM 1187 in Wheatlands TX.
Between 1943-49, US 377 was rerouted in Fort Worth to use Belknap/Jones to reach Weatherford St.
In October 1951 (AASHO), US 377 was extended south to US 90-277 Del Rio TX, by following US 67 to Brownwood; replacing US 283 to Brady; replacing US 183-283 to Junction; replace TX 29 to Rocksprings; replace TX 41 to US 277; follow US 277 to Del Rio.

In July 1952, AASHO declined a request to extend US 377 from Denton TX to US 60-77 Ponca City OK. They instead approved US 177 to be rerouted and extended to Ponca City, then south via Stillwater and Shawnee to Dickson OK before following US 70 to US 77 Ardmore. Per the 3/27/52 TXDOT minutes, the extension would've been over then-TX 10 to Whitesboro; proposed route and bridge across Lake Texoma to Dickson OK; OK 18 to Shawnee; a farm-market road to Warwick; OK 40 to US 60-77 Ponca City.
Also about 1952, US 377 was given its current route between Bobcat Rd in Roanoke TX to FM 1171. The old route veered northeast as abandoned for about 0.7 miles, then north abandoned 1.1 miles, then Durham Rd back to US 377.
In 1958, US 377 was removed from 2 miles of Indian Head Branch Rd/2 miles abandoned a few miles south of the US 277-377 split. Also, US 377 was removed from an eastern abandoned route beginning a bit below the Border Patrol Station to modern US 377, 0.2 miles east of the US 277 split.
Between 1959-61, US 377 was removed from a west abandoned loop 5.5 miles north of US 377 Bus Stephenville TX, another west abandoned loop 0.5 miles further north, and a 3rd one at Erath CR 150.
In 1960 or 1961, US 377 was removed from west abandoned loop starting south of Eratz CR 455 which becomes the picnic area driveway on east side of US 67-377.
About 1962, US 377 was removed from abandoned/Hall of Fame Rd/bit of Park Road 73 plus a bit of CR 170 nearby south of Junction TX.
About 1963, US 377 was removed from a northern driveable loop just past CR 450 in Edwards County TX.
In March 1964 (TXDOT), US 377 was removed from city streets in central Fort Worth and instead used I-35W and I-20 (now I-30) from the TX 121 interchange to Camp Bowie Blvd. Belknap/Jones/Weatherford to TX 199 Henderson St into downtown became Loop 347 (since truncated to Grove St). West of TX 199 the route became US 80-180 Business (unnumbered now). This was shown on the 1961 Tarrant County map, however.

In 1964, US 377 was removed from the two discontinuous segments of the former crossing of San Pedro Creek (now Amistad Reservoir).
In December 1964, AASHO turned down a request to extend US 377 from Denton TX north to US 64 near Cleveland OK. This would've followed TX/OK 99. Note the OK 99 portion had been sought in the 1930s as part of a new US 79 or an extension of today's US 175.
In July 1965 (TXDOT), US 377 was given its southern bypass of Stephenville, replacing all of Loop 195. The old route became Loop 195, but posted as US 377 Business.
In January 1966 (TXDOT), US 377 was given its southern bypass of Granbury. The old route became Loop 426 (now US 377 Business).
In June 1968 (AASHO), US 377 was extended north to US 70 Madill OK. Oklahoma had requested it end at US 64 near Cleveland OK. US 377 followed US 380 east out of Denton TX, then replaced TX 99 to Oklahoma. In Oklahoma this was an addition to OK 99.
Between 1959-68, US 377 was placed on a one-way pair in Denton with SB using the original route of Elm St and NB using Eagle Dr and Locust St.
In December 1968, AASHO turned down a third request to extend US 377 from Madill OK north to US 64 near Cleveland OK.
In March 1969 (TXDOT), US 377 was given its western bypass of Tioga TX. The old route was designated Loop 475 but posted as US 377 Business.
Also in March 1969 (TXDOT), US 377 was given its western bypass of Collinsville TX. The old route was designated Loop 476 but posted as US 377 Business.
In October 1969, AASHO turned down a fourth request to extend US 377 from Madill OK north to US 64 near Cleveland OK.
In November 1970, AASHO turned down a fifth request to extend US 377 from Madill OK north to US 64 near Cleveland OK.
In June 1971, AASHO turned down a sixth request to extend US 377 from Madill OK north to US 64 near Cleveland OK. In fairness, AASHO did tell Oklahoma that if they brought OK 99 up to a functional adequacy they could resubmit. Each subsequent application seemed to have more and more data to support the improvements.

Between 1962-72, US 377 was removed from west abandoned loop a little south of Winchell TX.
In November 1972, AASHO turned down an eighth request to extend US 377 from Madill OK north to US 64 near Cleveland OK. This time AASHO said there was an oversaturation of US highways in the area.
In July 1976, AASHTO turned down a ninth request to extend US 377 from Madill OK north to US 64 near Cleveland OK.
In June 1978, AASHTO turned down a tenth request to extend US 377 from Madill OK north to US 64 near Cleveland OK.
In November 1980, AASHTO turned down an eleventh request to extend US 377 from Madill OK north to US 64 near Cleveland OK.
About 1987, US 377 was removed from a north abandoned loop 5 miles east of Carta Valley TX.
Also in 1987, US 377 was removed from abandoned loop crossing the Colorado River above Winchell TX.
In late December 1987, OK 99 from Madill to I-44 Stroud OK was designated by law in the Department of Transportation and Related Appropriations Act (PL 100-202). In June 1988, AASHTO denied Oklahoma's request to extend US 377 from Madill to I-44. A February 1988 letter from the USDOT to AASHTO included an FHWA document that clearly said that if Oklahoma did not apply for the extension of US 377 or AASHTO declined to approve it, FHWA would not be able to implement the law as intended (emphasis mine). However, Oklahoma posted it anyway. The 1989 AASHTO log still has it ending at US 70 Madill.
Between 1984-95, US 377 was removed from Rocksprings Rd/Llano Rd in Junction TX.
Between 1998-2001, US 377 was removwed from abandoned/SB frontage road at the TX 114 interchange in Roanok TX.
In October 2015 (Travelmapping.net), US 377 was given its western bypass of Dublin TX. The old route is US 67 Business.
About 2025, US 377 was given its western bypass of Cresson TX, leaving behind US 377 Business.
In April 2026 (AASHTO), US 377 was given its bypass around the east of Denton by following I-35E south 2 exits, then following Loop 288 back to US 377-380. The old route became US 377 Spur on Locust St and Eagle Dr; unnumbered Elm St/Locust St one-way pair; US 380 east out of Denton.
Comments: It appears that Oklahoma may not have signed US 377 south of Madill until the 1988 extension to Stroud. State officials and county maps up through at least 1986 showed only OK 99.
