US 25 ALT: Requested in 1935 by Tennessee to replace US 129 as the designation for eliminating US 25W in Tennessee. Tennessee then asked for it to run from Knoxville anong then-TN 35 through Sevierville and TN 71 Smoky Mountain National Park to meet back up with US 25 near Greenwood SC!
AASHO firmly put that request down. This may be why Tennessee refused to sign US 129 north of Knoxville. | ||
