1932 ROUTE LOG
US 1, VA 31: 0 - 0
Hanover-Henrico Line: 3.31 - 3.31
VA 50: 10.39 - 13.70
VA 421: Appeared in August 1929 as a renumbering of VA 3111. It ran from VA 50 (now SR 646-1001 jct) Hanover CH 0.25 miles to the actual courthouse.
In Dec 1930 (CTB), a second piece of VA 421 appeared, running from US 1/VA 31 to Chickahominy Station, then 7.53 miles into Hanover County.
In June 1932, VA 421 was rerouted. Initialy it followed Azalea Ave east from Chamberlayne to Hanover County, then used today's SR 627 to Carneals Store (became part of CR 6); SR 638 to SR 639 to SR 640 to meet back up with the new VA 421 which was moved to today's US 301/VA 2 routing up Chamberlayne Ave (became part of CR 5). Also, VA 421 was rerouted off what had been VA 3111, and connected to the southern piece of VA 421.
Also by 1932, VA 421 was removed from SR 1001 at Hanover CH.
In July 1933, VA 421 was renumbered as part of VA 2.
The 1933 Gousha map incorrectly swaps VA 50 and VA 421. The June 1933 CTB clearly references VA 421 south of Hanover when approving what is now SR 695.
