Around 1966, WV 25 was placed on newly constructed Fairlawn Ave from 19th St east to 10th St which WV 25 then used south back to Dunbar Ave. The old route is partly covered by I-64, plus WV 25 used 16th St south to Dunbar up to this point.
In 1970, WV 25 was extended east replacing US 35 to its current endpoint at US 60.

WV 25 #1: Appeared 1922 as new primary routing running from WV 2 Weirton east to the nearby Pennsylvania State Line. I do not believe WV 25 made it to Ohio, as the first bridge at Weirton opened in 1928.
In 1927, WV 25 was renumbered as part of US 22. Today it is WV 105 except right at the Pennsylvania line it is CR 22/1.

In 1935, WV 25 was renumbered as US 35. Today it is WV 62 plus the last two miles into Charleston are now a bit of today's WV 25 plus Washington St West. The bridge over the Ohio River was the Silver Bridge which collapsed from mechanical failure in 1967.
