US 35 ALT: Appeared about 1943 as a replacement for US 35 on Washington Ave between 7th St and US 21 Sissonville Dr in Charleston.
US 35 ALT is explicitly mentioned in the 1951 WVDOT Highway Report and is shown explicitly on the 1965 AAA map. Presumably US 35 ALT went away when US 35 was moved out of Charleston entirely in 1969.
