US 381: In September 1941, the US Highway 381 Association contacted AASHO to request US 381 be assigned from Oklahoma City OK to Yellowstone National Park. AASHO informed them that they need to work through the respective state highway departments and would consider it if they submitted an application. AASHO noted that the (unspecified) route was entirely concurrent with otherUS routes except right in Oklahoma City and that this was contrary to current AASHO policy.
The US Highway 381 Association did present their case to the Wyoming Highway Department in October 1941 and they agreed to study it, per their minutes (no longer appear to be online anywhere). Otherwise, I have found no evidence any state considered this. Nobody submitted an application for this.
