Creation: An original state highway that in 1924 ran only from TN 23 (now Old Perryville Rd) Parsons south to Decaturville.
Adjustments: In 1925 or 1926, TN 69 was extended north through Camden and Big Sandy to end at TN 43 (now US 641) Paris; TN 69 was also extended south to Satillo as new routing, then replaced TN 46 to end at TN 45 (now Coffee Landing Rd) near Right.
In 1927 or 1928, TN 69 was extended north to the Kentucky Line (Tennessee tried to get this into the US highway system around then), replacing some of TN 43; also TN 69 was extended south with TN 17 and TN 15 to Savannah, then southeast as new routing to the Alabama line.

In 1930, TN 69 was placed on a new bridge over the Tennessee River into Savannah. The old route used Old Ferry Ln, the old Savannah ferry, Boat Ln, Riverside Dr and W. Main St.
Also in 1930, TN 69 was removed from Georgia Ave/Old Decaturville Rd south out of Parsons.
1929 and 1930 Official maps are vague whether TN 69 was supposed to end up with a more direct Decaturville to Satillo routing, or the direct routing was in place at first then abandoned by 1932. The direct routing had several options possible but my best guess is today's TN 202 and Brooksie Thompson Rd
In 1931 or 1932, TN 69 was rerouted at Satillo to head west to Milledgeville then followed TN 22 (old TN 17) southeast back to Right.
In 1934, TN 69 was rerouted in Paris to its current routing west with TN 54 before turning north. Originally TN 69 used Market St to Rison St northwest out of town.
If TN 69 ever used Osage Rushing Rd in Osage it stopped doing so by 1938.
In 1942, TN 69 was straightened out from Big Sandy westward, leaving behind some of Main St and Ball Park Rd which used to go further west than it does now; Whitney Bridge/Poplar Grove Rd at Springville
In 1944, TN 69 was removed from Ogburn St in Paris and placed on current US 79 to Wood St west.
In 1953 or 1954, TN 69 appears to have undergone two reroutings in Camden - moved from Harris St/Natchez Tace Rd south of the RR to "Old Hwy 69"
About 1954, TN 69 was rerouted at Savannah to follow US 64 to Crump then north to Morris Chapel. This left behind Coffee Landing Rd.

In 1958, TN 69 was removed from Main St (became TN 22A) and a little of current TN 22A in Milledgeville (road now abandoned across the 3 streams south of town).
In 1965, TN 69 was placed on direct routing from 6 miles north of Camden to Paris. The old route via Big Sandy became TN 69A.
In 1966, TN 69 was removed from the lengthy "Old SR 69" through Cozette, Sugar Tree and McIllwain in Decatur/Benton Counties
In 1973, TN 69 was removed from Rock Crusher Loop and Storms Loop north of Parsons; Jeanette Holladay Rd/Oscar Gibson Rd/Buck Dr in Jeanette.
In 1975, TN 69 was removed from today's TN 192 through Holladay; Old Hwy 69/Natchez Trace Rd/Dogwood Ave/Cherokee Ave south of Camden; TN 69A from Camden to I believe Reynoldsburg Rd. The 1971-74 officials suggest that TN 69A began 6 miles north of Camden, so from the mid-60s until now I believe TN 69 was temporarily using Reynoldsburg Rd.
In 1976, US 641 was added to TN 69 from Paris south to I-40

Between 1973-80, TN 69 was removed from Camden Rd north out of Parsons.
In 1983, TN 69 was removed from US 79 and Wood St in Paris and put on today's Veteran's Blvd, replacing TN 69 Byp. Wood St became TN 356.

Between 1982-85, TN 69 bypassed Decaturville, leaving behind S. West St, a bit of TN 100 Main St and N. Pleasant St.
In 1993, TN 69 was removed from Porter Ln well southeast of Savannah.
In 1999, TN 69 was removed from the lengthy Three Way Rd south of Decaturville and placed on modern US 641 to east of Bath Springs and added to TN 114 west back through Bath Springs.

In 2015, US 641 was added to TN 69 from I-40 south to the Bath Springs area.
Posting: posted as a secondary route between Crump and Bath Springs, plus north of Paris; primary routing everywhere else
Its overlay with TN 22 in the Milledgeville area is posted; all other overlays are not, which results in 65 continuous miles of unposted routing.
Secret US Route Overlay: US 641 (64.9 mi)
Comment: TN 69 is a good corridor to reach a number of places from I-40 (Camden, Paris, Parsons)
TN 69's routing between Savannah and Bath Springs is very roundabout...it is 16 miles shorter to use TN 128 to US 641.
