Creation: WV 870 was designated between 1994 and 2015 (per Control Destination logs) running as it does now from US 52 across the Kermit bridge over the Tug Fork into Kentucky. This is the only WV 870.
Adjustments: None
Improvements: Upon designation, WV 870 was fully paved; no multilane segments.
Comment: WV 870 is not posted. From US 52 it is signed as TO KY 292 (which KY 40 immediately hits after crossing the river). There is no CR posting of any kind despite it still showing as CR 52/41 on county maps.
