US 220 ALT: Officially requested by WVDOT to replace the US 220 routing in the New Creek area when US 220 was rerouted in Oct 1978.
AASHTO denied the request and the route from US 50 north to the rerouted US 220 became WV 972. Today this is part of WV 93.
