Creation: Appeared in 1983 running from US 11E Russellville to TN 113 just inside Hawkins County. The easternmost 1.4 miles of this was a renumbering of part of TN 113.
Adjustments: In 1987 or 1988, TN 344 was extended north with TN 113 to St. Clair, then north as new primary routing to US 11W Rogersville. Posting: Posted everywhere as a secondary route. Surprisingly, TN 344 is not posted on its TN 113 overlay. Secret US Route Overlay: None Comment: The southernmost half mile or so of TN 344 was once US 11E. TN 344 is the only route to begin at US 11E and end at US 11W.
