Creation:  Appeared as a renumbering of VA 123 in 1941. Ran as it does today. This is the 2nd VA 320.
Adjustments:  In March 1952 (CTB), VA 320 was extended west to SR 698.
Posting:  Fully posted at SR 779; white rectangle at SR 698.
Comment:  Serves Catawba State Hospital; This has had 4 different state route numbers back to at least 1923.

VA 320 #1:  Appeared as a new route in December 1930 (CTB Minutes). Was a spur 3.37 miles west off US 170 (curr US 29 Bus) Alta Vista.
In July 1932 (CTB Minutes), VA 320 was extended west to Leesville.
VA 320 became part of VA 43 in July 1933. It is still VA 43 except it used SR 712 loop through Lynch Station and used Bedford Ave/9th St/Broad St in Altavista.
