The Road: Begins at I-95, US 264 near Sims (Wilson County) and ends at US 70, NC 581 CONN Goldsboro (Wayne County)

History:
NCDOT first requested I-795 for the newly opened US 117 freeway from Goldsboro to Wilson in May 2005, which was rejected by AASHTO.
In Sept 2005, AASHTO approved I-795 for this freeway.
In Oct 2007 (NCDOT), FHA approved I-795 as an appropriate interstate corridor.
In April 2009 (NCDOT), I-795 was officially assigned to the freeway, replacing US 117.

Comments: I-795 was plagued by pavement problems right after opening.
The freeway continues past US 70 as unsigned NC 581 CONN to NC 581.
