I-785  7 miles
The Road: Begins at I-85 east of Greensboro and ends at US 29 northeast of Greensboro, all within Guilford County
Towns and Attractions: Guilford Co.: None
History: I-785 was first approved by AASHTO in Nov 1997 as a corridor that would follow US 29 from Danville VA south to I-85 in Greensboro. Some early NCDOT documents showed it following US 29 all the way. However, back to at least 2001 it has been known that I-785 will follow the northeast quadrant of the Greensboro Urban Loop.
By 2000, Corridor 785 signs had gone up along US 29.
In April 2012, NCDOT requested I-785 be added to the existing future I-840 freeway east of Greensboro. Approval came July 2013 and NCDOT assigned I-785 to this freeway at that time.
On December 6, 2017 (aaroads forum), I-785 was opened from US 70 northwest to US 29.

Exit List:
EXIT 21: I-40, I-85, I-85 Bus
EXIT 18 (old 19): US 70
EXIT 17: SR 2770 Huffine Mill Rd
EXIT 14: US 29

Comments: Exit numbers at its southern end follow I-840 mileage.
With the addition of I-785 to I-840 this makes the second instance of a concurrency of 3dis in the country, after I-271/480 in suburban Cleveland.
