Creation: Appeared in 1976 running as it does today. This was an upgrade to CR 23 west of US 52; CR 37 from US 52 to Edison; CR 25 Edison to Green Valley. This is the only WV 123. Adjustments: Around 1980, WV 123 was rerouted around the north of the dam for Middle Fork Brush Creek. Only a small bit of the road on the east side is not underwater. Improvements: Upon designation, WV 123 was fully paved; no multilane segments. Comment: WV 123 serves the Mercer County Airport.
