Creation: SC 512 appeared in 1928 as new primary routing, running from SC 51 (now S-22-4/6 jct) northwest to SC 511 (now SC 513) Union Crossroads.
Adjustments: In 1940, SC 512 was extended north replacing SC 511 to end at SC 51 (now SC 261) Outland.
In 1947, SC 512 was rerouted at Union Crossroads to continue northwest to end at SC 175 (now SC 261) Indiantown. The first 0.8 miles of this extension was a replacement for a rerouted SC 511 while the rest was new primary routing. The old route to Outland became a piece of SC 513 plus S-22-5.
In 1959, SC 512 was extended west with SC 261, then northwest replacing S-45-28 (had been SC 94 until 1947) to end at US 52 Cades.
In 1960, SC 512 east was truncated to SC 513 Union Crossroads. The old route became S-22-4.
