SC 380 not currently assigned

Previous SC 380's:		SC 380: Appeared in 1941 or 1942 as new routing. Ran from SC 38 (current SC 38-917 split) southeast near Sellers and ending at SC 571 (current SC 38/S-33-83 split), a distance of 5 miles. In 1948, SC 380 was extended east another mile to US 501, replacing a small piece of SC 571. The 1950 General Drafting Map shows SC 380 in this position; The 1952 Gousha shows SC 380 as a secondary route (unsure if this is accurate); However, the SC Official Map of 1953 shows SC 380 renumbered as SC 38, which it remains today.

Creation: Created about 1930 as new primary routing. Ran from SC 38 Blenheim to SC 9 Clio only.
Adjustments: In 1931 or 1932, SC 381 was extended in both directions: north to SC 30 (current US 15-401) McColl, and west from SC 38 around through the community of Marlboro, ending at SC 30 (current US 15-401) across from where SC 912 ends today. This made SC 381 about 35 miles long.
In 1934, SC 381 west of SC 38 was downgraded to secondary status, today's S-34-57. This was a rare case of a state route losing its status before the 1948 denumbering, although a little of this became the short lived SC 785. Also, SC 381 was extended north to the state line.
In 1940, SC 381 was re-extended west of SC 38 on a different road than the 1932-34 routing, ending at SC 382 (current S-34-18) near the village of Scott.
In 1948, SC 381 west was truncated back to today's routing, leaving behind S-34-50.
Improvements: SC 381 was fully paved by 1938; no multilane sections
Comment: SC 381 can be used as a sortcut from US 74 to I-95 while avoiding Bennettsville.

SC 382 not currently assigned

Previous SC 382's:		SC 382: Appeared in 1940 as new routing. Ran from SC 38 east of Drake through western Marlboro County and ended at SC 38 Bennettsville, a distance of 11 miles. In 1948, SC 382 was downgraded to S-34-18 and S-34-299.

SC 383 not currently assigned

Previous SC 383's:		SC 383: Appeared in 1936 or 1937 as new routing. Ran from SC 9 (current SC 9-79 split) east to SC 79 (current SC 79-385 split), a distance of 7 miles. SC 383 was renumbered as SC 79 between 1968-70.

SC 384 not currently assigned

Previous SC 384's:		SC 384: Appeared in 1939 as new routing. Ran from SC 79 (current SC 385) Breeden northeast to SC 381. In 1940, SC 384 was extended east 1 mile to the NC State Line, where the road continued as a secondary road to NC 79. The 6 miles SC 384 were downgraded to S-34-17 in 1948. U.S. Bike Route 1 ends at the state line crossing of this road (runs from here to Mt. Vernon, VA)

Creation: Appeared between 1968-70 as a renumbering of SC 79, running from US 15-401 Business, Main St. Bennettsville north to SC 79. This is the 2nd SC 385.
Adjustments: Around 1990 (maps do not show when this took place), SC 385 was extended through Bennettsville, replacing the US 15-401 Business route.
Improvements: Fully paved when designated; The county map atlas suggests SC 385 is multilane from Main St north to S-34-47 nea Breeden.
Comment: SC 385 runs along the east edge of Lake Wallace.

Previous SC 385's:

SC 385 #1: Appeared in 1941 or 1942 as new primary routing. Ran from SC 341 east over the Lynches River to US 15-SC 34 Una.
In 1948, the 8 miles of SC 385 were downgraded to S-31-26. Today, the Lynches River crossing is shown as non-existent, although both sides of the river are still S-31-26.

SC 386 not currently assigned

Previous SC 386's:		SC 386: Appeared in 1941 or 1942 as new primary routing. Ran from SC 43 (current US 378) at the Horse Creek Bridge (western Lexington County) southwest 6 miles to the Saluda County Line, just short of SC 391. It is unclear if SC 386 was extended the 0.4 miles to SC 391. In 1948, SC 386 was downgraded to S-32-46. The Saluda County piece is S-41-46, a rare instance where a county route number stays the same across a county line.

SC 387 not currently assigned

Previous SC 387's:		SC 387: Appeared in 1941 or 1942 as new routing. Ran from SC 38 Monroe Crossroads east to SC 381 Five Forks, 4 miles away. In 1948, SC 387 was downgraded to S-34-29.

SC 388 not currently assigned

Previous SC 388's:		SC 388: Appeared in 1941 or 1942 as new routing. Ran from SC 34 west of Brownsville to SC 38 Bristow, 3 miles away. In 1948, SC 388 was downgraded to S-34-31.

Creation: Appeared in 1951 or 1952 as a resurrected state route. Ran as it does today.
Adjustments: SC 389 originally appeared in 1941 or 1942, running from SC 215 (now SC 302) east of Wagener, south to SC 39 Perry, then east to the Orangeburg County Line.
In 1948, SC 389 between Perry and SC 215 was downgraded to S-2-41. The remaining part was downgraded to an unknown secondary number before SC 389's resurrection in 1951-52.
There have been no changes to SC 389 since is reappearance.
Improvements: Fully paved when resurrected; no multilane segments
Comment: SC 389 can be used as a short cut from SC 4 to SC 39 in trying to reach I-20.
