Creation: Arrived in 1939 as a new primary routing. Originally ran as a 4-mile stub south off SC 23 to Colliers.
| Adjustments: In 1940, SC 230 was extended south to its current end at US 25 Bus. Improvements: SC 230 was paved in 1948 except a several mile stretch south of Colliers; the remainder of SC 230 was paved in 1951 or 1952 SC 230 is not shown as multilane on the 2005 Official Map, but I know for sure it has been 4-lane below I-20 for a few years. Comment: SC 230 runs through a big chunk of the Sumter National Forest. If you continue straight across SC 23 at SC 230's end (on S-19-51) with a slight left bearing at S-19-35, you come out at SC 67's south end at US 378. |

SC 231: Appeared in 1940 as new routing. Ran from SC 430 near its north end southeast to SC 19 (current SC 121) at the Saluda-Edgefield Line, then
followed 19 south to Johnston, then proceeded southeast to end at US 1 near the Aiken Wayside Park. The total distance for SC 231 was 25 miles.
In 1948, SC 231 was downgraded to S-19-21, S-19-17 and S-2-25, with SC 19 remaining in place. |

SC 233: Appeared in 1940 as new routing. Ran from SC 231 (current S-19-17) in northeastern Edgefield County north to SC 23 near Ward.
In 1941 or 1942, SC 233 was extended west along SC 23, then north as new routing to end at SC 193 above the Dry Creek Bridge. This made SC 233 6 miles long. In 1948, SC 233 was downgraded to S-41-29, S-41-24, and S-19-23, with SC 23 remaining in place. |

SC 235: Appeared as new primary routing in 1940. Ran as a 2 mile cutoff between US 21-SC 2 (current US 176) Hammond Crossroads northeast to SC 691 (current S-9-24).
In 1941 or 1942, SC 235 was extended in both directions: west to SC 6-SC 210 (current US 21/SC 6 north split) and east along SC 691, then over new routing to end at SC 267 (current SC 419/S-9-80 jct) Ft. Motte. This brought SC 235 to be 17 miles long. In 1948, SC 235 was downgraded to most of S-9-30, S-9-23, a little of S-9-24, and S-9-25. |
