SC 111 #1: Appeared by 1929 as new primary routing, running from US 29 Gaffney northeast to North Carolina heading for Shelby.
In 1938, SC 111 was renumbered as part of SC 18 (south of SC 11 is now SC 18 CONN). SC 111's routing northeast of Gaffney was removed by the construction of I-85.
SC 111 #2: Appeared in 1940 as new primary routing, running from SC 113 (now S-32-24) Gilbert west to US 1 west of Summit. In 1942, SC 111 was extended northwest as new primary routing to end at SC 386 (now S-32-46) Ridge Crossroads. In 1947, SC 111 was downgraded to S-32-31 east of US 1 and S-32-54 north of US 1.
