Creation: SC 91 appeared in 2025 as new primary routing along Berlin G Myers Pkwy in Summerville between US 17 ALT and SC 165, then replaced SC 165 back around to US 17 ALT near I-26. This is the 2nd SC 91.

SC 91: Appeared in 1923 as new primary routing running from SC 9 near Lockhart north to SC 5 (now SC 211) Sharon.
In Feb 1937 (SCDOT), SC 91 was extended west with SC 9 to Lockhart, then southwest as new primary routing to end at SC 92 (now SC 49-215 CONN) Monarch. In 1940, SC 91 was extended north as new primary routing to what is now SC 5. In 1947, SC 91 north was truncated back to SC 5, leaving behind S-46-23.
In 1951, SC 91 was rerouted west of Lockhart to meet SC 9 at the SC 98 junction in Mt. Tabor. The old road to lockhart became S-44-10 (some of this is SC 49 now). Also In 1951, SC 91 was extended northeast replacing part of SC 5 to end at US 321 (now US 321 Bus) York. In 1956, SC 91 was renumbered as SC 49. The reroute to Mt. Tabor is now part of SC 105. Between Monarch and SC 105, SC 91 used Old Lower Lockhart Rd; Frank Hill Loop; and S-44-415/26 Phillipi Church/Wesley Chapel Rd
