The 1st US 264 Business was created in 1960 as a renumbering of US 264-A through Wilson.

In Dec 1972 (NCDOT), US 264 Business was rerouted to avoid downtown Wilson using newly constructed Hines St. Raleigh Rd east of Hines, Bynum St, Vance St, Pender St, and Nash St west of Hines became SRs 1356, 1369, 1670, and 1553.
In Sept 1977 (NCDOT), US 264 Business was decommissioned leaving behind SR 1192 on Raleigh Road, Hines St, and Nash St.

The 3rd US 264 Business was created in 1960 as a reunmbering of US 264-A through Greenville.
In 1988, US 264 Business was decommissioned. A little remains as US 13 while the rest of Dickenson and 10th Sts are secondary routes.

The 4th US 264 Business was created in 1978 to run through Bailey, and Sims. US 264 Business may have briefly used NC 581.
In 1979, US 264 Business was extended west through Middlesex back to US 264 via NC 39. This was actually secondary road for a time (per NCDOT documents).
In 1980, US 264 Business was renumbered as US 264-A.
