U.S. 13A  repulsed
Formerly: US 13A: After AASHO decided to move the US 15 designation to a different corridor further west, they negotiated with Virginia for a new number for the route from Wilmington to Petersburg VA via Goldsboro, Rocky Mount and Weldon.
In a Jan 13, 1926 letter to AASHO, Virginia rejected the first suggested designation, which would be US 13A. This was not meant to be US 13 ALT but instead its own 2-digit US route.
The next suggestion for this route came from AASHO in Feb 3, 1926 which was US 17W.
They eventually got to US 17-1 as the designation. Today this is the US 301 corridor.
