The Road: Begins at NC 710 near Pembroke and ends at I-95/US 301/NC 72 Lumberton, all within Robeson County.
Towns and Attractions: Robeson Co:Pembroke, Pembroke State Univ, Lumberton
History: NC 711 was created in 1951 or 1952, running essentially the way it does now. It had been part of US 74. The 1950 Esso map of NC-SC shows NC 711 as a secondary road and US 74 on its modern alignment, so there may not have been a direct renumbering.
It is unclear if NC 711 always duplexed with NC 72 to US 301 but I know from personal experience the duplex dates back to at least 1975.

Comment:
NC 711 is reported to be signed N-S even though it clearly runs E-W.
