N.C. 40-A dead

Formerly:

NC 40-A: Born in 1932 as a renumbering of NC 481. It ran from NC 48 (current Weldon St) Roanoke Rapids north through Gaston and ending at US 301/NC 40 Pleasant Hill.
In late 1934, the great renumbering claimed NC 40, so the 40-A designation had to go. So it was renumbered as NC 47. Today it is part of NC 48.
