NC 16 Business #1: Serves Newton and Conover. Implied to exist starting on the 2007 Official and field verified initially by Adam Prince in December 2007. This had been NC 16 mainline.
NC 16 Business follows East D St into Newton (with NC 10); N. Main St from Newton to Conover; N. 1st St north of Conover. NC 16 Business does not have direct access to I-40 as it did when still mainline 16.

NC 16 Business #2: The second NC 16 Business was also born in 2007 as a renumbering of mainline NC 16. It serves Lucia and Lowesville. The current north end is at NC 73 but pending completion of more of the NC 16 expressway to the west, NC 16 Business will extend north through Denver and a little beyond NC 150.
