NC 35 replaces NC 45

The 1st NC 35 was born in 1930 as new primary routing. It began at NC 30 (current NC 45 turn onto Main St) and headed south through Harrellsville and Colerain before ending at US 17/NC 342 near Merry Hill.
In late 1934, NC 35 was extended northwest to Murfreesboro, replacing a piece of original NC 48.
In late 1940 NC 35 was renumbered from Meery Hill to Winton as NC 45. Winton to Murfreesboro became part of US 158.

Comments:
Today's NC 35 does not have much importance and is a pretty slow ride with six different towns to slow down for, but it looks as if logically it should replace NC 305 below NC 561.
Original NC 35's only daughter, NC 350, lasted until the 1970's.
