Creation: SC 912 first appeared in 1940 running from SC 9 west of Bennettsville north to SC 383 (now SC 79). This is the only SC 912.
Adjustments:
In 1942, SC 912 was extended east with SC 9 a mile, then west and south as new primary routing to US 15.
In 1947, SC 912 was fully decommissioned: S-35-21 (now S-35-55) north of SC 9 and S-35-33 south of SC 9.
In 1950, SC 912 was resurrected as a state route, running as it does today. This replaced part of S-35-33 and all of S-35-46.
