1946 ROUTE LOG
SC 511: 0 - 0
SC 519 ALT: 1.0 - 1.0
END SC 519: 11.1 - 12.1
SC 519: Appeared in 1940 as what I believe (based on the first secondary route number assigned: S-8-13) was a renumbering of the northernmost part of SC 172, running from SC 511 (now SC 41) west to Cainhoy and may have continued south on today's S-8-26 Fogarty Ln to the old ferry crossing originally used by SC 172.
In 1942, SC 519 was rerouted to continue west to Thomas Island, then as projected routing over Daniel Island to end at Remleys. The old stub to Cainhoy became SC 519 ALT (now S-8-26).
In 1947, SC 519 was downgraded to S-8-26 east of Cainhoy (now S-8-33) and S-8-33 west of Cainhoy. It is unclear if SC 519 was built over Daniel Island directly to Remleys before 1947 or not. S-8-33 was closed to the public east of the Beresford Creek Bridge to Daniel Island around 1970. The road to Remleys was over today's Daniel Island Blvd and I believe Purcell Ln east to the Wando River.
