SC 501: Appeared in 1923 as new primary routing. Ran from SC 9 and SC 50 (current US 1) Cheraw northwest 9 miles to the North Carolina State Line near Morven, NC. The route then became the original NC 80.
In 1928, SC 501 was renumbered as SC 96 and later to US 601. Today it is the exiting stretch of US 52. |

SC 502: Appeared in 1940 as new routing. Ran from SC 175 (current SC 261) in central Williamsburg County to Nesmith, 10 miles away.
In 1941 or 1942, SC 502 was extended east as new routing to SC 511 Rhems, and southeast to end at US 701 Plantersville, giving SC 502 a length of 32 miles. In 1948, SC 502 west of Rhems was downgraded to S-45-24. East of Rhems was also downgraded to a Georgetown County route, but later became part of today's SC 51. |

SC 503: Appeared in 1940 as new primary routing. It ran 12 miles between US 501 in Conway and US 501 (current S-26-15) Myrtle Beach, several miles shorter than US 501's path between Conway and Myrtle Beach.
In 1949, SC 503 was renumbered as part of US 501. |

SC 504: Appeared in 1940 as new primary routing. Ran from SC 5 (current S-46-6) Lesslie east 9 miles to US 521 at Andrew Jackson State Park.
SC 504 was renumbered as part of SC 5 between 1959 and 1964 ('61 Rand McNally does not label the road). SC 504 was not fully paved until after 1953, and was still using a ferry across the Catawba River as late as 1958. |

In 1948, SC 505 was downgraded to what appears to be Holland Ave and 12th St. Today, 12th St is part of SC 35. |

SC 506: Appeared in 1940 as new primary routing. Ran from SC 9 (current SC 34 at Old Latta Hwy) south along the west side of the railroad to US 301-501, 3 miles away. This may have once been original SC 23 and later US 217, but was not a primary route in 1939.
In 1948, SC 506 was downgraded to what S-17-25. |

In 1941 or 1942, SC 507 was extended south to US 521 for a total of 13 miles. In 1948, SC 507 was downgraded to S-45-116, S-45-30, and a little piece of S-45-38 in between. |
