Creation: SC 414 appeared in 1949 as an upgrade to S-23-58 and S-23-43, running generally the way it does now. This is the 2nd SC 414.
Adjustments: Between 1969-73, SC 414 was extended east over SC 14 from its old alignment at Linder Rd to the new alignment of SC 14.
Improvements: Paved upon designation; multilaned only with its very brief US 25 multiplex, which was 4-laned between 1966-67.
Comment: SC 414 serves Tigerville.

In 1926, SC 414 was extended southwest as more new routing to end at SC 3 (now US 76 Bus) Sumter.
In 1928, SC 414 was renumbered as SC 763. Today it is part of US 401.
SC 414 is misidentified as SC 412 on both the 1923 Auto Trails and the 1924 Blue Book.
