Creation: SC 389 appeared in 1942 as new primary routing, running from SC 215 (now SC 302) south through Perry then east to end at the Orangeburg County Line. This is the only SC 389.
Adjustments: In 1947, SC 389 was downgraded to S-2-34 and S-2-41.
In 1950, SC 389 was resurrected, running from SC 39 Perry to Neeses. The Orangeburg County side was an upgrade to S-38-72 and S-38-58.
