Creation: SC 292 appeared in 1939 as new primary routing, running from US 29 (now US 29-SC 292 CONN Spartanburg Rd) Lyman north to US 176 ALT (now S-42-11) Inman. This is the only SC 292.
Adjustments: About 1942, SC 292 was extended southwest over US 29 to SC 290 Duncan.
In 1947, SC 292 north was truncated to US 176 Inman. it is unknown what the secondary route number was into central Inman.
In 1950, SC 292 was extended north over S-42-54 to SC 9.

SC 292 was mutilaned on its US 29 overlay in 1941 (bridge dates).
Comment: SC 292 has no excitement associated with it...just a simple state route in western Spartanburg County.
