Creation: SC 114 appeared in 1939 as new primary routing, running from SC 11 (now SC 18) in southern Cherokee County northeast 4 miles. This is the only SC 114.
Adjustments: In 1940, SC 114 was extended northeast as new primary routing to end at SC 103 (now S-11-13) near the Broad River Bridge.
In 1942, SC 114 was extended south with SC 11 into Union County, then southeast as new primary routing to end at SC 11 (now SC 18) near Bonham.
In 1947, SC 114 was truncated to its current routing, leaving behind SC 11 (now SC 18) into Union County, plus S-11-15 and S-11-17 (some of this is now S-11-231).
Improvements: SC 114 was paved from SC 11 north to Thickety Creek in 1941.
SC 114 was paved from Bonham to SC 9 in 1950.
The remaining part was paved in 1955.
SC 114 has no multilane sections.
Comment: SC 114 essentially serves as a bypass of Jonesville for traffic heading from Union to Gaffney.
