US 311 Business appeared in Dec 2005 (NCDOT) when US 311 was given a bypass north around High Point. US 311 Business used Main St right on through, ending at I-85 Bus/US 29-70 which was an interim US 311 routing.
In Nov 2009 (NCDOT) US 311 Business was downgraded to SR 1009. The 2011 Official still shows this as US 311 Business.
