NC 422: appears on the Wilmington insets of the 1958-60 Official Maps. It is not on the 1963 Official Map (next map up in collections) and insets do not exist on my older issues. It is implied on official maps as early as 1938, but not 1936. It is not on the 1936 New Hanover County map but is on the 1944 Hanover County Map. The 1958 map shows NC 422 as a short stub (along Wright St) off US 421 (still 3rd St. in 1958) west to the Port. The port again enjoys primary route entry with US 117, though this is a mile or two south of where NC 422 was.
