The Road: Begins at US 74-601, NC 200 Monroe and ends at the South Carolina Line below Trinity, all within Union County. The route continues as SC 207 to nearby US 601/SC 9 Pageland, SC.

History: NC 207 was born around 1948. Initially began at Franklin St which was then US 74, NC 151 and NC 200.
Between 1958-62, NC 207 was truncated to Morrow St where NC 200 became located.

In December 1978 (NCDOT), NC 207 was extended north on Hayne St to the current NC 200 location at Church St.
In August 2011 (NCDOT), NC 207 was extended north replacing NC 200 out to the US 74 Bypass.

The first NC 207 was an original state highway, running from NC 20 (now US 74 Bus) Forest City southeast to Carolleen and Cliffside before ducking south into South Carolina.
NC 207 used today's US 221 ALT from Forest City to Cliffside. in Cliffside it used Old Main St and a road no longer present to cut east to 221 ALT at Boling Springs Rd. Near South Carolina, NC 207 used "Old US 221A Hwy"
About 1932, US 221 was added to the entirety of NC 207.
in late 1934, NC 207 was dropped from the numbering system.

Comment: NC 207 doesn't really have much purpose as a through route as US 601 accomplishes the same movement.
SC 207 predates NC 207 by several years...
