NC 120 appeared in 1929 as new routing. Ran as it does today.
Official maps from 1972-2000 clearly show NC 120 north truncated to the US 74 freeway. However, my late 80s Rutherford County map does not show this and a quick check of Google View shows it is still posted at US 74 Bus.

Comment: | NC 120 violated the numbering scheme at the time of its creation. But in fairness all the 20x numbers were already taken. |
